Rachel at the Aripuca

Posted by Justin Haaheim (New Haven, CT, United States) on 28 September 2008 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

Shot outside of Puerto Iguazú, Misiones, Argentina at a place called the "Aripuca", which will hopefully show up in one or two posts in the near future. The Aripuca is a tourist site centered around a giant lodge made from gigantic fallen trees. The word Aripuca is Guaraní and means something like a trap used to catch birds. The owner of the place explained that the site is symbolic, trying to represent the trap that we as humanity face as we continue to cut down our biggest and most precious old-growth forrests.
