Resurrection LilyPosted by Justin Haaheim (New Haven, CT, United States) on 12 January 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. One of three Resurrection Lilies (Lycoris squamigera) I had the chance to photograph in bloom in a friend's backyard last August. The flowers are so named because they grow as basic green foliage during the early part of the summer only to die off by the middle of July, and then in mid-August out of seemingly nothing these gorgeous flowers spring up. This shot is one of many that have been lost or hidden in my changes of scenery, computers and photo-managing software over the last year and a half and that I'm now starting to uncover. I came across this one in an effort this last week (before classes start again) to try to collect and sort through some of these photos. This should be interesting for both of us (you and me) as I churn through these and make new selections and new processing choices for some of the best of my largely untouched photo archives since June of 2006. Let me know what you think. Photo of the Day
